How to get to Divčibare mountain?

Divčibare is located only 38km from town Valjevo, no matter if you go via Rajković or via Kaona. Both roads are well-maintained and covered with asphalt. Both roads have well-marked signposts. If you travel from Belgrade, the shortest route is 104km long and it leads you via Ibarska motorway to Županjac, from where the route turns via Bogovađa and Donja Toplica to Mionica. .

This route is the shortest, but the road between Županjac village and Mionica is in a pretty bad condition and that is why tourists mostly choose other routes.

If you want to avoid Ibarska motorway, you can choose the highway “Miloš the great” from Belgrade. This road is 117km long. From Belgrade, exit the motorway following the sign for the Miloš the great highway and after that you will cross the Ostružnica bridge.

When you cross the Ostružnica bridge, after about 3-4km you will see the exit to Miloš the great highway. Then from the direction of Lajkovac through Mionica to Divčibare.

Where to go for a walk on Divčibare?

The best way to experience the spirit of the Maljen mountain is to indulge in its hiking trails. All the trails are well maintained and well marked. There are several attractive heights and viewpoints on Maljen and the most popular are Crni vrh, Kraljev sto, Golubac and Paljba.

The viewpoint Kraljev sto is in 4km from the central part of Divčibare mountain. The highest peak of Maljen is surrounded by forest and meadows, and at the viewpoint you can find benches where the hikers can take some rest after long walk.

Viewpoint Crni vrh is certainly the most visited peak in this area because it is exquisitely well maintained. Although the path to the viewpoint is a bit more demanding, at the top, the hikers will be welcomed by a viewing platform and a swing that provides a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
The viewpoint Paljba is located near the regional road Valjevo-Kosjerić, and it is about 3km away from the center of Divčibare. Since this viewpoint is one of the most accessible, it’s possible to reach it by a car. Hiking trail Ljuti krš is one of the most beautiful hiking trails. Exquisite view to the left, across the deep valley of the Black river’s stream to the Bačevački peak, Čubrica and Pejar.

Golubac peak is also very popular. From this peak you can see Valjevo settlements and colorful fields. When on Divčibare, you can visit more peaks such as: Veliko brdo, Stražara, Velika pleć i Zabala.

For those who are more skilled it is recommended to visit circular path and waterfall Skakalo.

One of the hiking trails on Divčibare leads to the beautiful waterfall Skakalo, one of the jewels of this area. The trail itself is more demanding than others, because the ground is not so passable and the access to the waterfall is far more difficult in the spring and after heavy rains.

Where to spend time during the winter/summer on Divčibare?

Divčibare is a very attractive destination throughout the whole year.

DURING THE SUMMER – During the summer, spa tourism is very much present In this region. Many people come for treatment with warm and healing water in the summer season. The most popular places for spa tourism are Banja Vrujci, Petnica and Lepenica. If you like exploring the nature, hiking or walking, then Divčibare is the perfect place for you during the transitional months of the year. A tour of Maljen’s peaks and walks along the Divčibare trails is something that we definitely recommend during your summer vacation on the mountain.

DURING THE WINTER – During the winter, skiing and various other sports on the snow are very popular and that is why snow and winter activities lovers gladly visit this place. When we talk about skiing and children, you should know that this is the mountain where it snows for almost 4 months a year and ski season can last for several months.

The most famous and the most visited ski trail is a ski trail Crni vrh.

This trail is 850m long and there you can rent a ski equipment and take some ski classes at ski school, but also you can drink some coffee or have an outdoor drink. There is a two seater chairlift which leads you straight to the trail and during the summer provides you exquisite view to the Maljen’s beauty.

Second great trail is trail Center near hotel Pepa. This trail is about 600m long. There is a ski lift, and a ski school as well. Another great thing here is that there is an option of night skiing (the track is fully illuminated), for all those who like those kind of activities.

There is also a beautiful ski track within the Heba Park hotel. It is very good for children and beginners. It is 200m long and you can stop by the restaurant at Heba hotel as well.

Where to play on Divčibare?

Heba hotel also offers you a playground next to the restaurant`s garden and large area that is far from the road so the children can express their imagination. In hotels Pepa, Royal, Crni vrh and hotel Divčibare you can also find large playground for children as well as in the center of Divčibare accross the church.

Events on Divčibare

Mountain Music Fest better known as MMF is the festival of music, art and adventure performed on three stages within Divčibare Ski Resort. This festival hosts 20 performers from Serbia and countries in the region. All the visitors have an opportunity to spend MMF days in nature, on mountain, listening to good live music and dancing with the prestigious DJ’s. The reasons MMF is well known for is the intimacy it provides, but also for the fact that the festival is really intended for everyone. For example, during the day there are workshops for children. Pets are allowed in all festival areas. Although certain things have changed over the years, such as the number of stages, duration of the festival, and even the festival space itself, the essence, as the organizers say, has remained the same. The festival is held every year in August.

Traditional touristical-educational event “Divčibare Mushrooms days” is held in the first weekend of October in front of the hotel Heba. The main goal of this event is to promote mushrooms to the visitors as a natural and organic food and teach them through educational lectures how to collect, use and protect the mushrooms properly.

International art colony “My corner”, organized by hotel Heba, has been held for eight years in the first part of July. It gathers painters from the country and abroad. The paintings are exhibited in the National Museum of Valjevo city and in hotel Heba’s premises.

What to visit in Divčibare surrounding?

The surrounding of Divčibare is as much as beautiful and rich in natural resources as its central part. The most popular city in its vicinity is certainly Valjevo, but also Kosjerić, Požega and Mionica. Besides that, the surrounding is full of significant monasteries for Serbian culture and history.

  • Monastery Lelić is located near Valjevo 44km away from Divčibare.

  • Church brvnara Seča Reka– the wooden church Seča Reka near Kosjerić, 34km away from Divčibare
